Chiropractic Care

Back adjustmentYour brain controls every action of your body, all the way down to individual cells, by sending signals through the nervous system. In order to be healthy, you need a good brain-body connection. To have a good brain-body connection, you need a spine that’s functioning correctly.

Chiropractors look for areas of the spine that are not aligned or moving properly, affecting how the brain’s signals are delivered. Using precise chiropractic adjustments, we restore proper alignment and motion to the spine, alleviating tension on the nervous system so that your body’s innate ability to heal and regulate itself can work as it should.

Many Techniques That Cater to Your Goals

Each of our four chiropractors has extensive training and experience, and they offer a range of adjusting techniques that cater to your specific needs, goals and preferences. With manual and lower-force instrument-assisted methods, we’ll ensure your care is comfortable and appropriate for your condition. Some of our adjusting methods include:

  • Activator Methods®
Prefer a gentler adjustment? This technique uses a small handheld spring-loaded instrument that delivers a quick, low-force impulse to the spine. Activator Methods is precise and gentle, making it ideal for patients seeking a less invasive approach to chiropractic care. The technique can address joint dysfunction, reduce pain, and restore alignment without manual adjustments, making it ideal for younger patients or seniors.
  • Applied Kinesiology (AK)
AK combines muscle testing with chiropractic care to assess the body’s structural, chemical, and mental aspects. Our chiropractors can identify imbalances and determine the most beneficial approach to care by evaluating muscle strength and weakness. This holistic approach addresses various conditions, from musculoskeletal issues to nutritional deficiencies.
  • Impulse iQ®
This instrument-assisted technique uses micro-computer circuitry to deliver precise, controlled adjustments to the spine and extremities. The device produces a measured force that can be tailored to each patient’s needs. This method is particularly helpful in providing pain relief and restoring function by accurately targeting areas of misalignment or restricted movement.
  • Diversified Technique
As one of the most commonly practised chiropractic methods, the Diversified Technique involves using low-force, high-amplitude adjustments applied manually or with the help of tools like a table or block. Our chiropractors use this method to introduce mobility to restricted spinal joints. Restoring motion to these areas can reduce inflammation, leading to improved spinal health and pain relief.
  • Gonstead Technique
This unique method is rooted in a thorough spinal assessment using five key criteria: visualisation, instrumentation, static palpation, motion palpation, and X-rays. The Gonstead Technique allows our chiropractors to precisely detect spinal subluxations, making it a highly reliable approach for correcting misalignments and restoring spinal health.
  • Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT)
SOT focuses on the pelvis and sacrum using gentle, sustained pressure to correct imbalances in the craniospinal system. It’s beneficial for addressing issues like TMJ disorders, neck and head pain, and general dysfunction in the body’s central alignment. SOT aims to normalise the body’s function by restoring proper balance.
  • Thompson Technique
This technique involves high-velocity, low-amplitude adjustments using a specialised drop table. The table’s design allows for a gentle and controlled adjustment, making it easier for our chiropractors to apply force while minimising discomfort. The method is commonly used for full-spine adjustments, promoting overall spinal health.

Your chiropractor will talk with you about your specific situation and goals. Based on this consultation and a thorough examination, they will design a care plan to help restore optimal function to your spine and nervous system. When your nervous system works as it should, the rest of the body can receive the proper messages from your brain, allowing for improved biomechanical function.

Stages of Care

1. Chiropractic Care

If one of our experienced Chiropractors determines that you can benefit from Chiropractic care, they will give recommendations that may consist of three phases or types of chiropractic care, which you can choose from, depending on your health goals: Relief, Corrective and Lifestyle.

2. Relief Care

When your symptoms are most intense, our care may help to reduce the symptoms and inflammation. This often includes advice or strategies you can adopt between visits.

3. Corrective Care

Corrective Care may help to achieve increased function and mobility after your symptoms are either gone or have significantly improved. We then focus on strengthening the spinal structures in their best positions and ensuring that correction is maintained.

4. Lifestyle Care

When you have achieved optimal health. At this point, you may choose to schedule periodic Chiropractic check ups.

Supportive recommendations may also be provided for a holistic approach in attaining and maintaining optimal levels of health. These may include information on:

  • Your sleeping habits
  • Posture
  • Ergonomics
  • Exercise
  • Foot support and footwear
